A zero-star recruit with only one Division I offer (Sacramento State), Skattebo spent two years dominating the FCS before transferring to Arizona State. In Tempe, he became a national sensation and a "Skat-egory" of his own, famously being named Nick Saban’s favorite player during the 2024 season.

His 2024 campaign was legendary: he became the first Big 12 player ever to record 1,500+ rushing yards and 500+ receiving yards in a single season. Whether he was punting, throwing touchdowns, or running backwards into the end zone, Skattebo was a one-man wrecking crew.
