Montell Jordan Is Officially Cancer-Free: A Major Win For The R&B Legend

#MontellJordan is kicking off 2026 with the best news possible, he’s officially beat prostate cancer for the second time.

The 57-year-old singer first dealt with the disease in early 2024, but things took a scary turn when it came back even more aggressive in his lymph nodes. After a tough round of radiation and a complete lifestyle flip, he got the call he’s been waiting for. “Christmas Day we found out that we are undetected, cancer-free,” Montell says. “We’re finally at an all-clear and I feel fantastic. Following the roller coaster ride of becoming a two-time cancer survivor, standing in my home on Christmas Day… to get the call on that morning was surreal.”

This wasn’t a fight he handled on his own. His wife of 32 years, Kristin Jordan, was right there in the trenches with him. To give Montell the best shot at staying healthy, the couple cut out sugar and dairy and stayed consistent in the gym. Kristin says doing it together was the only way to make the changes stick. “Everything that we do, we have to do in tandem and in unison in order for it to last,” she explains. “We better take care of these temples that we have because we only get one, right?”

Montell admitted it was hard to let her in at first because he didn’t want her feeling the weight of the sickness. “When you have a disease, you feel like if you share that with someone, then they kind of also carry the disease. And I never wanted her to carry cancer,” he says. “But what I learned in the process is that from her support, she didn’t have to carry cancer, but she could help carry me.”

Now that he’s healthy, Montell is focused on helping other men catch the disease early through his work with ZERO Prostate Cancer. He’s also dropping a documentary called Sustain that shows the raw side of his two-year battle.
