Though marked by different geopolitical conditions, the trajectories of Etel Adnan and Seundja Rhee disclose notable affinities: both were drawn to Paris and turned to painting in adulthood without prior formal training; each, in turn, developed a distinctive visual vocabulary informed by abstraction, philosophical enquiry and the expanding fascination with space exploration in the 1960s.⁠

As Jaeyong notes: ‘The two artists may never have crossed paths in their life, but this exhibition is that meeting, it is an encounter between them’⁠
