WEEKEND VISITORS (PART 1)

We love visitors, and we must admit, we didn’t want to see our weekend visitors go. Two amazing women, susanburtonla and Tiawana Brown, founder of beautyafterthebars , spoke to our Center for Women residents Saturday… two powerful leaders who have a justice-involved past, now uplifting and creating ways to help those who’ve made mistakes.

Susan Burton is the founder of A New Way of Life Reentry Project. The nationally and internationally recognized program provides housing, case management, free legal services and more for people rebuilding their lives after incarceration.

Susan shared her back story and read excerpts from her book, “Becoming Ms. Burton: From Prison to Recovery to Leading the Fight for Incarcerated Women“, and even took a tour of our facility.

STAY TUNED: Tiawana Brown, founder of beautyafterthebars, was our second guest this weekend. We’ll share her exciting story helping women right here in the Charlotte area.
