For wainachancy, it all started at the mall.

In the ’90s, the Haitian-born designer took her first post–high school job at the Gap in Miami. It’s where her obsession with denim began. She later enrolled at Miami International University of Art & Design. “I've always known I wanted to be in fashion,” she says. “When I moved here, I realized I could be.”

Waina spent over a decade working as a costume designer on critically acclaimed films, including “Moonlight.” She then started her brand atelierndigo in 2021. Rich textiles. Architectural silhouettes. A true expression of who she is and where she’s from. “Haiti is such a vibrant country,” she says, “and you can see that in my pieces in this collection.”
