A commuter alert for NJ Transit and Amtrak riders, as construction on the new Portal Bridge gets underway.

The project's focus is on replacing the century-old bridge, which has a history of getting stuck and leading to delays. Work is expected to last for at least four weeks, and NJ Transit has warned there will only be one track to service trains between Newark and Secaucus on weekdays. Some lines, including Morris & Essex and Montclair-Boonton, won't see direct service to Manhattan.

Work is expected to wrap up March 14th.
