Meet Sarah Syed ’27, a double major in studio art and neuroscience.

Sarah’s love for art began long before Trinity. “My parents say that I've been drawing ever since I was able to hold a crayon, leaving many walls covered with very artistic murals,” she says.

Growing up in a family of doodlers, she was surrounded by creativity and inspired to explore it herself. That early curiosity sparked a passion for creating and experimenting with different mediums.

At Trinity, that passion has grown with the support of the Baker Duncan Art Scholarship. The scholarship allowed her to explore new techniques, take additional studio courses, and ultimately transition from an art minor to a studio art major.

Working in oil pastels, clay, watercolor, photography, and digital art, Sarah says she often creates “whatever I see from life,” letting her everyday experiences shape her work.

Alongside studio art, Sarah studies neuroscience. She chose the two majors for the different directions they offer and says, “Safe to say, I'm never bored between my two majors.”

For Sarah, balancing these disciplines allows her to follow multiple interests while embracing the unique challenges of each field.

Whether in the studio experimenting with new techniques, in the lab exploring neuroscience, or finding inspiration in the world around her, Sarah continues to follow the curiosity and joy that first drew her to art as a child.
