Today we honor the life, leadership, and everlasting legacy of Rev. Jesse Louis Jackson Sr., civil rights icon, global humanitarian, political trailblazer, and a fearless voice for Black dignity. 🖤

From standing beside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the height of the Civil Rights Movement, to founding Operation PUSH and the Rainbow Coalition, Rev. Jackson dedicated his life to turning protest into policy, pain into progress, and struggle into sustained power. He marched in Selma, fought for voting rights, championed economic justice, and reshaped what political courage looks like for generations of Black leaders to come.

In 1984 and 1988, he made history, mounting a serious campaign for the presidency and changing the political landscape forever. He proved that our voices, our votes, and our leadership belong in every room where power exists.

At BET, Rev. Jackson’s presence was more than historic, it was foundational. From unforgettable appearances on the BET Awards stage, to interviews that challenged, informed, and inspired, to moments where he spoke directly to our community on our platform, he always used his voice to uplift, educate, and activate. He believed in the power of Black media, Black ownership, and Black storytelling and he showed it by showing up.

His legacy lives in every march for justice, every young leader who dares to run, every institution built to serve our people, and every moment we choose courage over comfort.
