Follow NBPS seniors Julia Sotto Nascimento and Emma Birnbaum along their day, presenting their composting project to the Broward County Climate Change Task Force!

In May of 2025, Julia, Emma, and Ana Maria Cortina received a grant from the Broward County Youth Climate Action Fund (YCAF) to implement a 3-bay aerated static pile composting system on campus. Since then, they have further developed the project, making NBPS the first school in Broward County to compost 100% of its food scraps! 🌱✨👏
