After months of protests, the Brooklyn Navy Yard evicted a drone manufacturer that contracts with Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), the Israeli military, and the Israeli weapons manufacturer Elbit Systems. Despite being listed as a “fine art and photography” business, government records show that Easy Aerial has millions in US Air Force contracts, as well as a contract with CBP for drone operator training. A 2021 YouTube video shows Israeli soldiers using an Easy Aerial drone for military operations.

The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation declined to renew the company’s lease at a February 11 board meeting. Like all tenants at the Navy Yard, Easy Aerial is currently exempt from property tax and may be eligible for other taxpayer-funded subsidies.

The Navy Yard hosts over 550 businesses, including artists’ studios, cultural organizations, and Pratt’s Fine Arts and Photography MFA studios. Activists organizing under demilitarizebklynnavyyard have been holding protests, leading campaigns, and speaking at board meetings for more than a year now.
