At least two N.J. school districts told high school students that they could face disciplinary action for leaving school grounds during separate ICE protests earlier this month.

At North Plainfield in Somerset County, students who participated in the protests were notified they must attend a three-hour detention on Saturday, school officials said in a letter.

Meanwhile at Highland Park in Middlesex County, 30-40 student were originally told they would be suspended for one day, students said. But Kristina Susca, the district’s superintendent, later wrote to families to say the district would be “conducting a thorough review of the circumstances.”
