Here’s a little update on the mother who is at risk for being deported by ICE after her husband reported her - 

Alhamdullilah, we were able to buy her & her children winter jackets and clothing. In the wake of a recent polar vortex in New York, where temperatures reached as little as 0 degrees - we can’t understand how anyone would kick their children and wife out of the home to fend for themselves. We learned that they spent a lot of time escaping hostility at home by roaming on the subway. Unfortunately this not uncommon, many survivors feel like they have no where to go and are forced to turn to the train stations for warmth.

We also - Alhamdullilah (!!) with your donations have been able to provide the funds for all groceries throughout the month of Ramadan. We’re still hoping to ensure to raise more funds for transportation expenses, and to further provide shelter.

It’s humbling and heartbreaking - to recognize how easily the suffering of those nearest to us can remain unseen. To think that the person standing next to you in taraweeh can be spending their nights on trains escaping their abusers, or even dreading going back to home after prayer.
