Today we’re visiting “The Palmetto State” for our #ArmyROTC Cadet of the Week 🎉

Meet Carlie Cutinella, a senior majoring in Psychology with minors in Sociology and Anthropology at Wofford College.

Cutinella joined #ROTC because she’s always carried a deep sense of duty and patriotism. She wanted to be part of something greater than herself and serve others.

“ROTC provided the perfect opportunity to live out those values while challenging me to grow as a leader and as an individual, all while being part of a team with a shared purpose. The difficult moments throughout my ROTC journey ultimately became a blessing, as they strengthened my resilience, discipline, and commitment to service.”

Outside of the Southern Guards Battalion, Cutinella plays Division I women’s lacrosse at Wofford, serving as a team captain. She is the vice president of the Morgan’s Message club and a member of
the Wofford Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She is an active volunteer within her community.

“To me, leadership is a responsibility and a privilege, not a position. It means setting the
example, putting the needs of others before my own, and serving with motivation, discipline, consistency, and teamwork.”

She is motivated to lead by her family, and, especially, by the memory of her late brother Thomas. He aspired to attend West Point, but tragically passed away from a football accident at the age of 16.

“He was a natural leader with an unwavering desire to serve his country...He challenged my siblings and me to live each day with purpose, to lead by example, and to always do what is right...Thomas lived the Army Values: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage, through his actions
and his character. His legacy continues to motivate me daily.”

Cutinella recently branched Active Duty into the Medical Service Corps. She has a goal to serve as a Physician’s Assistant in the Army through the Interservice Physician Assistant Program (IPAP).

Keep up the great work Cadet Cutinella! Your hard work inspires us 👏 👏
