The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that Trump exceeded his authority under IEEPA to impose global tariffs — his biggest legal defeat since returning to office. Chief Justice Roberts wrote that the president "cannot" point to clear congressional authorization. What happens to the $175B+ already collected? 🇪🇺 RUBIO AT MUNICH
Secretary of State Marco Rubio addressed the Munich Security Conference with a strikingly different tone than VP Vance's combative speech last year. He called the U.S. a "child of Europe," emphasized shared Western civilization, and received a standing ovation. But beneath the softer rhetoric — no mention of Russia, sharp criticism of European migration and climate policy, and a clear push for burden-sharing. Was this a genuine reset or a velvet glove on the same fist?
🇨🇳 CHINA'S WARNING TO JAPAN
At the same conference, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered an aggressive rebuke of Japanese PM Takaichi, invoking WWII-era militarism and warning that Japan "will only bring destruction upon itself" if it continues down its current path on Taiwan. Japan's Foreign Ministry called the remarks "inappropriate" and filed a formal diplomatic protest. With Takaichi's comments on Taiwan as a "survival-threatening situation" for Japan, this is the most heated China-Japan exchange in years — and it has major implications for Indo-Pacific security.
