Sam Ruthe just got a crash course in professional racing. Chris Chavez, Kyle Merber and Preet Majithia analyze what happened at the ASICS Sound Invite when Ruthe stepped into a field packed with top-level pros and why tactics, not just fitness, determined his 7th place result in 3:52. We also touch on what these early lessons could mean for Sam Ruthe’s development moving forward.

Kyle Merber: "I think this actually highlights the problem with BU-style time trials. It's just not racing. A 3:52 is obviously fantastic for a 16-year-old and a 3:48 is mind-blowing. But, this was a race and this is the learning experience that comes with moving over to the U.S."
