Celebrating 50 years of Dublin University Ladies Boat Club (DULBC), the Dining Hall was filled with students, alumni and supporters!

Founded by a small but determined group of five women rowers in 1976, the club has grown to a thriving club attracting over 100 rowers each year.

The recent 50th anniversary celebrations brought together athletes from across generations to honour shared history. Among those in attendance were Jane Williams, the club’s first Captain, as well as other members of DULBC’s inaugural crew.

This season, the ladies Boat Club secured three national titles at the Rowing Ireland Championships, matching its strongest championship performances and reinforcing its place in university rowing.

💬 Michelle Tanner, Director of Sport and Physical Activity at Trinity College Dublin, said: "I am so honoured to be here celebrating the 50 years of women's rowing at Trinity.  Rowing is a tough sport and it’s no surprise the resilience of those who are involved.  It’s hard to imagine the challenges the founding members had in 1976 - no equipment or funding, but what they did have was a small group of women determined to find their place on the water.  It's amazing to see how far the club has come with the help of some amazing alumni, students, friends and university support.  This has led to incredible successes over the years from novice, intermediate, senior and colours titles to internationals and Olympic stars.  It was a real pleasure to chat to the incredible rowers, alumni and supporters here tonight and to hear Olympic medalist and DULBC alumnus aifrickeogh poignant and inspiring speech."
