Tonight’s dinner at The Sky Bar at the historic clarkecookehouse —was a perfect blend of casual charm and coastal elegance. The Sky Bar and the romantic Porch dining area perched above the harbor offer softer lighting, attentive service, and panoramic views worth dressing up for.

The backstory: built in 1780 by sea captain Clarke Cooke, this colonial gem was physically relocated piece-by-piece to Bannister’s Wharf in 1973, preserving its original upper floors and transforming it into one of Newport’s most iconic dining destinations.

Fun fact: The Candy Store was legendary even before its restaurant days—as “”Dorian’s,”” a buzzing candy store and nightclub in the 1960s—where legends like BobDylan, joancbaezofficial , Frank Sinatra and realmiafarrow (on honeymoon!) sang and mingled.
