Niecy Nash-Betts was recognized for her decades-long show business career, her advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights, and her visibility as a Black queer woman in Out Magazine’s Out100 issue back in October 2025.

The ‘Claws’ and ‘Dahmer’ star married singer, actor, and producer Jessica Betts in 2020, publicly announcing their union with a series of wedding photos.Nash-Betts says she and Jessica are aware of how meaningful their love story is to others, especially within the Black queer community.

“When it comes to Black-on-Black love in the queer community, we are on a very short list of being someone you could look to for representation in that way,” she shared.“It’s very, very powerful,” she added. 

“First of all, I love being Black. I love being a woman. And now I’m a Black queer woman in a relationship with another Black queer woman, and it matters.”
