Major moment for Wunmi Mosaku at the 79th BAFTA Film Awards, and it had Ryan Coogler tearing up. 🥺

The British-Nigerian star just took home Best Supporting Actress for her role in ‘Sinners.’

Mosaku beat out Teyana Taylor (‘One Battle After Another’) and Emily Watson (‘Hamnet’) for the win, marking her second BAFTA trophy after her 2017 TV victory for ‘Damilola, Our Loved Boy.’ 

Her emotional speech had the room fully captivated, including director Ryan Coogler.

She dedicated the award to her daughter, saying, “To my daughter, you are my greatest teacher. I am so proud of you, everything begins and ends with you.”

“I found a part of myself in Annie, a part of my hopes, my ancestral power and connection, parts I thought I had lost or tried to dim as an immigrant trying to fit in,” she told the audience.

To Coogler, she shared, “Your gift comes from home, and it is big. Conjuring spirits from the past and future, I felt the presence of the ancestors’ pride and joy daily on your set. Your commitment to artistry, truth, and humanity is to be treasured and protected at all costs.” 💗 👏
