Today, we’re highlighting the achievements of songwriter, musician, and social and political activist Tracy Chapman.

She is a multi-Grammy winner and is most well known for her hit song “Fast Car,” but she has a catalogue of certified Platinum and Gold music that shows she continues to be a mainstay in the music industry. Chapman became the first Black woman to ever take home a CMA at the 57th Annual Country Music Awards, and was the first Black songwriter to win the Country Music Award for Song of the Year for “Fast Car” in 2023, thirty-five years after its initial release.
