Our next #MoodySpotlight is Evelyn Yvonne Becerra, a senior studying utexasrtf. From El Paso, Texas, Evelyn chose RTF to understand the work that goes into taking a film from script to screen.

Evelyn chose #TEXASMoody not just for its top-tier programs, but also for its location in Austin. “I was so excited to experience city life since I grew up in a rural community. I looked forward to Moody’s promising film programs, welcoming students of all levels of experience.”

Evelyn participated in the utlaprogram last semester and worked as a development intern at Flynn Picture Company and Channel 101, a non-profit film festival. “One thing I learned about myself was how capable I can be when needed. I thought I was taking a risk with UTLA by throwing myself into the heart of entertainment, but I quickly adapted and built my confidence throughout the semester.”

“I truly appreciate how UTLA helped me figure out what I want to do in the entertainment industry by helping me rediscover my interests and morale within filmmaking.”

Outside of Moody, Evelyn has worked as a summer orientation advisor and fabrication student assistant for Texas Performing Arts. This semester, Evelyn is looking forward to being a production designer for an undergraduate thesis film and serving as a line producer for a comedy thriller short film.

One of her favorite #TEXASMoody memories was screening her narrative production short film in the DMC. “To my surprise, an audience member asked me a question and expressed her love for my film. This was an absolute confidence booster.”

“Thanks to the Moody community and the available resources, I was able to learn at a steady pace. In my three years as a Longhorn, I’ve been able to learn more about myself and feel confident about my goals post-grad.”
