New York Mets No. 2 prospect Carson Benge has a chance to make the 2026 Opening Day roster.

Benge, 23, showcased his talent across 116 minor league games last season, slashing .281/.385 OBP with 15 home runs and 73 RBI. He did struggle in a brief 24-game stint at Triple-A, hitting .178, but that came in a very small sample size.
 
The Mets are reshaping their defensive alignment in the outfield. Juan Soto is shifting to left field, while newly acquired Met Luis Robert Jr. will take over in center. Right field remains up for grabs, pending a decision on Benge. One of Benge’s biggest defensive strengths is his arm, and that alone could play a significant role in determining his value in the corner.
