At #NWSS2026, the MLK Rodeo made history as our first-ever sold-out MLK Rodeo—a milestone that made this year even more meaningful as we celebrated the 120th anniversary of NWSS and the 20th anniversary of the MLK Rodeo at our show! 

The first MLK Rodeo at NWSS began in 2006, honoring our 100th year and celebrating the legacy of Black cowboys, cowgirls, and rodeo pioneers whose impact helped shape the American West. For two decades, this event has brought incredible talent and a celebration of the Black rodeo pioneers whose influence helped shape rodeo as we know it today.

As we recognize Black History Month, we honor the trailblazers who broke barriers in the arena and beyond. We’re grateful to the fans, families, contestants, and partners who filled every seat this year and made history with us.

Here’s to 20 years of honoring the past, celebrating the present, and riding boldly into the future. 🖤🐎
