An arrest has been made in a 2001 cold case where an innocent woman was fatally shot at a party in Anderson County, South Carolina.

Detectives announced Monday that they have arrested Andretti Mondez Goss, 55, in connection with the 24-year-old homicide case of Jennifer Lawson.

According to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, on June 26, 2001, a small gathering along Camelot Forest Drive in Belton escalated into a larger party attended by members of a close-knit community familiar with one another.

During the evening, authorities said three unfamiliar men arrived in a dark-colored sedan and got into an argument with someone at the party.

After being asked to leave, authorities said the men stopped their vehicle in the driveway and fired at least one shot from inside the car.

Detectives say the bullet went through a wall, hit a man in the shoulder, and then fatally hit Lawson in the head.

The 29-year-old mother was an innocent bystander and victim who was at the wrong place at the wrong time, the sheriff's office said during the arrest announcement.
