I’m really happy I asked @kevinknappofficial this question. It’s important to get the perspective of someone who’s been making music for a long time.

There is a growing discourse in the dance music industry that, as it becomes more popular, music is all starting to sound the same. 

But doesn’t that happen in EVERY industry, not just music? 

Look at what I’m doing with this podcast, FFS. How many other podcasts am I competing with? 

Those who use shortcuts and bank on viral trends to break their way into the scene are responsible for holding people’s attention when they “make it.” It’s not easy.

Like Kev said, it’s not so much about how you got here… but what you do when you arrive.
