Let’s get real honest here for a second.

The old me wouldn’t think twice about forking over my salary for a new weekend outfit.

But investing in my education or buying a tool that would make my life easier? 

Forget about it.

When I started my business in January 2022, I kept it lean. However, I quickly realized that if I wanted to grow, I needed to change my relationship with money.

Little by little, I investing in tools and services that helped me level up. A Grammarly subscription here, an Adobe Audition subscription there.

Then I started to hit my stride. The more I invested in my business, the more money I brought in.

And let me be clear: I’ve made a ton of investments that didn’t panned out.

Last year, I spent nearly $6k on developing a course for TV reporters looking to leave the news industry. And guess what? I only had 8 sales. After fees, I made about $1000.

But that investment wasn’t a loss because it taught me valuable lessons for building my next project. It was the best investment I’d made to date - much better than any clothing haul could ever be.

People often hold back from these types of purchases because they have a scarcity mindset. They’re afraid to take the leap because the payoff isn’t guaranteed, unlike the instant gratification you get from a frivolous or impulse buy. 

To build a thriving business, you gotta shatter the chains of scarcity. Recognize that pouring resources into your own growth is never a waste; it’s the most potent seed you can sow to guarantee your future prosperity.
