## Caption

There is nothing worse than pouring your soul into something, only to come up short. ‘Super heroes’ carry a burden that no one can truly understand. They’re imperfect. Deeply flawed. Messy. They leave everything out there. I remember sitting in my car, by myself, crying for 10 minutes after seeing ‘Logan.’ It felt awful. I remember watching Andrew Garfield play Peter Parker - when he couldn’t save Gwen. He held more power in his palms than anyone one of us in that moment could ever have, but he couldn’t save her.  The moment was bigger than him. The disbelief on his face. Shock. Denial. The realization. The helplessness.  The loss. The whole gamut of flawed, illogical, human emotion in less than a few minutes. Oof. It’s hard to watch. It hurts. But we need to believe in something for the triumphs to mean anything. Peter Parker goes on. Spider-Man HAS to be “Spider-Man” because the alternative is a bunch of people suffering.  And we trust he will be there for us when we really need him.  I need something to believe in, man. If, for no other reason, to be able relate. To tell similar stories if someone hires me to do so or if i write a song about some real shit. Joe Burrow is a god damn super hero.  I can’t wait to watch him & the bengals rise above this. I’ll ride with this dude as long as he’s wearing stripes. 

Big picture: I am exactly who I am because of the people I spent Super Bowl Sunday with.  A crowd of quirky, loud, polite, eclectic, goofy, giving, welcoming, & loyal people & I had an incredible day in a house that they all helped me build for two years. It was so fun. We held a Viking funeral for the season in the backyard with Orange Chinese lanterns and fireworks. It was epic 😂 I apologize for none of it. 

I have so much love and gratitude in my heart right now & so thankful for it all.  Today I get to play ‘Jesus’ in a stellar production of Jesus Christ Superstar. It’s crazy that I get paid to this. A show, role, family, & legacy that I love & respect very much.  So LFG! Put me in my place if you catch me complaining about anything right now.
