kiernanshipka was looking for “a fresh start” with her industryhbo role. But she admits she was initially anxious about getting into the mindset of Hayley Clay, whose first appearances involve a drugged-up sex scene and whose true motivations are revealed slowly over time. “I love what I do and I know that I’m good at what I do, but I approach it as if I’m trying to learn from it,” Shipka says. “I have self-confidence that I can do the job, but I always want to feel a little nervous because that’s what makes me put my whole self into it.”
