Kate Killam ‘23 is a senior here at Marist with a Psychology major and double minors in Spanish and Communications. In the fall of her sophomore year, Killam decided to transfer to Marist and acknowledges it as a great decision.

“I had visited Marist with my older brother while I was in high school, and when I was thinking of transferring, I was like ‘Oh my gosh, Marist was so pretty when we came’. As soon as I stepped foot on campus, this is so cheesy, but I was like, ‘This is where I want to be.’ My biggest regret is that I didn’t just go here my freshman year.”

Killam is an active member of the Marist campus. When asked about her extracurriculars, she said, “I have a work-study job on campus, I work for the Office of Advancement for alumni development, I have an internship right now at Highland High School that’s actually through the psychology department, and I’m working as a school psychologist there, which is cool. I’m on the women’s club rugby team, which is a lot of fun, and I’m a transfer Peer Mentor, and I’m also part of North Road Communications.”

Killam also loves being a part of the Marist Admissions department, and she knew she wanted to join as soon as she arrived on campus; “I was a part of the admissions office at my old school, and also in high school, I went to a boarding school, so I was a tour guide at my boarding school and I loved it, I loved being able to share my excitement and passion for it. I knew as soon as I got to Marist it was where I wanted to work, and it’s kind of what got me out of my shell as a transfer, because I knew that once I joined one thing I would feel more a part of the community.”

She continued, saying, “This is my most fun job on campus, we just had our admitted students weekend this past weekend and it was so fun. It’s so much fun welcoming all the families and the students and seeing how excited they are, I would definitely recommend it.”
