Meet IMAGINE (@imagine876), one of the contemporary artists featured in the @rubinmuseum’s upcoming exhibition “Reimagine: Himalayan Art Now,” opening on Friday, March 15!

IMAGINE (a.k.a. Sneha Shrestha) is known for her large-scale murals that mesh the Devanagari script of her native language, Nepali, with the aesthetics of Sanskrit scriptures and American graffiti art. 

Her immersive installation for #ReimagineRubin is inspired by the artist’s experience viewing Nepalese ritual objects in US museums, and is divided into three parts: a portal, yellow ritual implement hall, and pink meditative room. In this video, IMAGINE is working on the pink meditative room. In the pink room the artist reimagines how museums could celebrate cultures “by celebrating the voices and visuals of people of the culture and by people of the culture.”
