Sometimes knowing multiple visual mediums can help you imagine new ways to create. I realized I love to combine live action videos with lighting that I create in 3D software like Blender. 
The secret is planning out the idea for the shot in advance so you can light the real life scene to accommodate for the fake lighting in post production. That is what lets you get extra realistic results.
