Arsenal development isn’t about adding pitches.
It’s about separating them.

Brandon Neeck’s offseason at VeloU wasn’t focused on velocity. It was focused on movement profiles and pitch identity.

The objective was clear:
• Add carry to the fastball
• Increase drop and arm-side movement on the changeup
• Move the cutter closer to a true gyro profile
• Increase glove-side movement on the slider without losing velocity

The first two months were spent exploring grips on the slider and changeup. He identified the whirly slider and kick change as the most advantageous shapes. From there, December and January were about refining starting points, release consistency, and tunnels.

Catch play included distance extension work to improve fastball flight. Bullpen work reinforced clear separation between offerings.

TrackMan year-over-year shows the difference:
Fastball IVB: +4.37 inches
Sweeper/Slider horizontal break: +5.97 inches
Changeup IVB: -3.36 inches
Cutter horizontal break: +4.62 inches

That’s real shape separation.
Instead of pitches blending together, each offering now has defined movement, defined approach angles, and defined intent.

At VeloU, arsenal building means:
Identify the overlap.
Create separation.
Refine release.
Track the carryover.

That’s how you build a pitch mix that plays.
