Born Julien Christian Lutz in Toronto, he came up in the late ’90s under Hype Williams, learning the bold, cinematic style that defined that era of hip hop visuals. He first worked under the name Little X, directing early 2000s staples before evolving into Director X and carving out his own visual identity 🎥

His catalog includes culture-shifting videos like Usher’s “Yeah!”, Rihanna’s “Pon de Replay,” Sean Paul’s “Temperature,” Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy,” and Kendrick Lamar’s “King Kunta.” His style helped shape the modern look of rap and pop, blending clean framing, vibrant color palettes, and strong visual storytelling that still feels current today 💎
