🦊💭 #RUNDownMemoryLane with us as we take a look back at the incredible year we had in 2025. First up: the national rankings and recognitions made possible by our unstoppable Rutgers–Newark community.

📝 Here’s what we accomplished together:

1️⃣🥇 For the second year in a row, Rutgers University–Newark ranks #1 in New Jersey and #5 in the Nation for Social Mobility according to the 2026 U.S. News and World Report college rankings! 

2️⃣🏅 Rutgers University–Newark earned the Seal of Excelencia excelencia_in_education, becoming the only university in New Jersey to hold this national distinction. 

Nearly 35% of our undergraduates identify as Latine/Hispanic, far above the federal 25% threshold for Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) designation. The Seal of Excelencia goes beyond enrollment; it recognizes measurable outcomes in student belonging, retention, and success, while affirming the supportive campus culture that empowers students to achieve academically, socially, and professionally.

3️⃣🏫 Rutgers University–Newark has been officially designated an Opportunity College and University, a category created for the first time by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education (American Council on Education aceducation) to recognize schools that excel at helping economically disadvantaged students find careers that pay competitive wages.

We couldn’t be prouder. Every recognition, every award, and every ranking reflects our commitment to expanding opportunity, increasing access, and ensuring affordability, so every member of our community has the chance to thrive.
