My SHERO. In my junior year in high school, I happened to hear Shirley Chisholm speak. I was working as a model for The May Co. department store’s Teen Fashion Board. From backstage I heard her voice, I heard her words. I was captivated by her courage. I peeked through the curtains and there she was… I was mesmerized. That day she changed my life in so many dynamic ways. I’ve always carried her in my heart from the first day she touched this young girl’s soul. Thank you to all the women who followed in her path. I honor all of you in this moment of Women’s History Month.
