Elding Whale Watching In Reykjavik!

The only thing I love more than going on a boat is seeing wildlife in the water. Because of this, I’m the first to jump on a whale-watching trip if one is available anywhere I go.

I love the excitement of the visual hunt, seeing the spray shoot up, and if you’re lucky watching the flip of the tail come out of the water.

As we planned our short time in Reykjavik I knew whale watching had to be a part of it.

@eldingwhalewatching (a family-run company with 20+ years of expertise in creating memorable experiences for their guests) not only started whale watching in Reykjavík, but to this day they remain one of Iceland’s most recognizable wildlife tour operators. They did not disappoint!

We saw FIVE humpback whales! FIVE! It was so freaking exciting!

With that said, as much fun as it was to see whales, the boat ride itself was also spectacular. The mountains were stunning and I loved seeing Reykjavík from Faxaflói Bay. Plus the boat was so spacious there was a great vantage point for everyone... even my cold kids got a full whale show from the large wall of windows inside.

You can see that Elding is committed to sharing the wonders of the ocean. They also abide by a strict sustainability policy and operate under a dedicated code of conduct, ensuring a responsible and eco-friendly approach to tourism.

When you (sadly) disembark you leave feeling that they CARE about the animals (and the tourists). 

Finally, I was blown away by their offer to send everyone from the tour the professional pictures they took on the trip.

This whale-watching tour was not only a trip highlight but it was incredible. If we had more time I would have happily joined them for their Northern Light tour or in Akureyri (North Iceland) to encounter even more majestic marine life.
