We’re kicking off our performer spotlight series with a true icon in Pittsburgh’s drag community.

Kierra Darshell celebrates a distinguished career in the art of female impersonation. As Pittsburgh’s First Lady of Drag, she is a leader, role model, innovator, and mentor who has helped shape generations of performers.

👑 She made history as the first Black queen crowned Miss Gay Pittsburgh.

As curator and producer of the Tri-State All-Star Pageantry System (est. 1992), Kierra expanded the system to include Miss Newcomer and Mister divisions — creating more space for emerging talent.

She is the producer and host of Saturday and Sunday Drag Brunches, including a Mother’s Day brunch’s. 

Kierra has hosted Outrageous Bingo, Pittsburgh Leather Contests, and performed across countless community and corporate events.

✨ Career highlights include opening for legends like Patti LaBelle, Gloria Gaynor, Martha Reeves, and Christine Ebersole.

She has produced drag shows for The Hamilton Broadway touring cast party and the Kinky Boots Musical after-party for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust — attended by Billy Porter.

Kierra has graced magazine covers, made history as the first drag queen featured in The Icons of Pittsburgh, and in 2021 served as a judge for Mr. Gay America in Las Vegas.

Closing out 2024, she reached another milestone as producer and host of the first-ever drag show during New Year’s Eve Highmark First Night Pittsburgh.
