A senior official in Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said that Iran would ‘destroy’ any vessels trying to pass the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow channel between Iran and Oman which sits on one of the world’s most important shipping routes, especially for oil exports.⁣

Speaking to state television, General Sardar Ebrahim Jabbari said Iran would not allow ‘a drop’ of oil to be exported from the region via sea or pipelines. ⁣

In response, the US Central Command said the Strait was not closed despite statements by Iranian officials, Fox News reported.⁣
