“As black history month comes to an end, I want to share a project that I’ve been working on inspired by the Black Panther Party, founded in 1966 in Oakland CA, by Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale. The Panther Party was more than an organization it was a movement, guided by its ten point program demanding freedom, justice, employment, and housing. While history often highlights the Party’s male leaders, women played a huge part in the Party’s growth and impact, eventually making up majority of its members. This is a tribute to honor not only the image, but the legacy and contribution the Party has had on the black community.”
