createaplatewithdina HONEY GARLIC CHICKEN BOWLS are on repeat in my kitchen right now. They are quick, flavorful, and perfect for an easy weeknight dinner. Tender chicken coated in a sticky honey garlic sauce, fluffy rice, buttery broccoli — so good and great for leftovers too!

Ingredients

For the chicken
• 1½ lbs chicken breast (or thighs), cut into bite-size pieces
• 1 tsp sea salt
• ½ tsp black pepper
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• 2½ tbsp cornstarch
• 3 tbsp oil (for cooking)

For the honey garlic sauce
• ⅓ cup honey
• ⅓ cup low-sodium soy sauce
• 6 cloves garlic, minced
• ½ tbsp rice vinegar
• ½ tsp sesame oil
• 1 tsp cornstarch + 1–2 tbsp water (slurry)
• 1 tbsp butter

For the bowls
• Cooked jasmine rice
• 1 lb broccoli florets
• ⅓ cup water
• 1-2 tbsp butter
• ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
• Green onions + sesame seeds (optional garnish)

Instructions
	1.	Cook the rice according to package directions and set aside.
	2.	Season the chicken: Toss chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and cornstarch until evenly coated.
	3.	Cook the chicken: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken in two batches (do not overcrowd the pan) for about 3–4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove from pan.
	4.	Make the honey garlic sauce: In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Bring to a gentle simmer. Add the cornstarch slurry and let it thicken (about 30 seconds to 1 minute).
	5.	Coat the chicken: Add the cooked chicken back into the sauce and toss until fully coated and glossy.
	6.	Cook the broccoli: In a separate skillet, add broccoli and water over medium heat. Cook uncovered for 5–6 minutes until water evaporates and broccoli is tender. Add butter and salt, and cook another 1–2 minutes for slight charring.
	7.	Build the bowls: Divide rice between bowls. Top with honey garlic chicken and broccoli. Drizzle extra sauce over the top and finish with green onions and sesame seeds.
