This World Wildlife Day, we are celebrating the Amazon Basin - one of Earth’s most vital biodiversity hotspots. Captured by #Copernicus Sentinel-3, the image shows the dark-coloured Rio Negro and the sandy-coloured Solimões rivers meeting near Manaus, before merging into the mighty Amazon River.

Home to countless species and indigenous groups, the Amazon is crucial for life on Earth.
