🚀We’re back from a whirlwind mission to Japan🇯🇵!

From 24–27 Feb, UNOOSA met with partners to strengthen collaboration on global space governance, innovation, and the peaceful use of outer space.

🤝A highlight was meeting H.E. Kimi Onoda, Minister of State for Space Policy, and Yohei Onishi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, where we thanked Japan for its leadership in international rulemaking and support for UN-led space initiatives.

🛰️ At the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force’s North Utsunomiya Garrison, we saw how satellite data supports disaster response, including a helicopter flight demonstrating real-world applications.

🌍 Discussions with jaxa_en and unu_official explored how Japan’s expertise can advance disaster resilience, capacity building, and space sustainability.

💡 Meetings with industry leaders—including Spacedata Inc. and mitsubishielectric—showed how space innovation supports the Sustainable Development Goals. Digital twin projects in Tonga 🇹🇴, Ghana 🇬🇭, and Trinidad & Tobago 🇹🇹 demonstrate how space technology can strengthen resilience.
