Growing up in Tampere, Finland, Teppo Numminen dreamed of playing in the NHL. He knew how big that dream was, but he always kept the dream alive. After being drafted by the original Winnipeg Jets in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft, Teppo made his NHL debut on October 10, 1988, scoring in his first game.

Fast forward 16 years to March 3, 2004, Teppo Numminen plays his 1,149th regular-season NHL game, surpassing the late Börje Salming and establishing a then-new record for European-born defenders. Teppo concluded his NHL career after 20 seasons and 1,372 regular-season games.
