The latest conspiracy to grip the internet is that the transformative make up artist Alexis Stone was a Jim Carrey imposter at the 2026 Cesar Film Awards. Carrey’s representatives have now responded.

The internet was divided, as many claimed that the actor looked considerably different. Then, drag queen Stone claimed they went in Carrey’s place.

On Sunday (1 March), Stone posted to Instagram a series of photos with the caption: “Alexis Stone as Jim Carrey in Paris.”

The images included two shots of Carrey and then a photo of a mask, teeth and a dark wig. The post is geo-tagged to Paris, France, with the Eiffel Tower in the background.

Impersonating celebrities is not a new thing for Stone. Previously, the make up artist has turned heads as Glenn Close, Anna Wintour, Lana Del Rey and Donatella Versace.

The latest update is that Carrey’s team have pushed back against Stone’s claim.

In a statement to PEOPLE on Monday (2 March), Carrey’s representative said: “Jim Carrey attended the César Awards, where he accepted his Honorary César Award.” I guess that quashes the rumours!

Stone has now turned off the comments on the Instagram post, which has half a million likes.

When commenting was accessible, actress Megan Fox wrote: “I can’t handle any more stress right now I need to know if this is real.”
