Please join us at Fruit and Spice Park to view "This Living Landscape" a historic exhibition that explores the rich agricultural roots and evolving story of the Redlands and the development of Fruit and Spice Park.
This historic exhibit examines the evolution of the land that would become Fruit and Spice Park, shaped by the fertile soils of the Redlands. The exhibit highlights the vision of Mary Heinlein and her passion for showcasing the diverse fruits and vegetables that thrive in South Florida’s climate. Through her dedication and with the support of Preston B. Bird, the land became a living vessel of agricultural innovation, community preservation, and an expansive presentation of tropical flavors.

This exhibition is a collaborative partnership between Deering Estate and Fruit and Spice Park, two Miami-Dade County Heritage parks, managed by the county's Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces. Through shared stewardship, this collaboration strengthens interpretive storytelling, expands community engagement, and reinforces a collective commitment to preserving the cultural and environmental narratives rooted in Miami-Dade County’s landscape.
