#MunroeBergdorf is adding "author" to her résumé as she prepares for the release of her debut book, #Transitional. The model and activist penned an essay for britishvogue sharing her hopes for the book and why transitioning is "the single most courageous act of self-love that I can fathom." "Sometimes – not often, but sometimes – I ask myself this question: what if I’d just done nothing? What if I’d remained stuck in purgatory between the hand I was dealt at birth and the outward lie that appeased those around me?" she writes, later adding, “I couldn’t tell you when I knew I was queer or when I knew I was trans. I didn’t just wake up one day and have an epiphany; I think on a spiritual level I’ve always known." The moving essay details the lessons she learned about the importance of living authentically, and why she hopes her book will be a "survival guide for those who need it. That it helps those who are going through what I experienced feel seen, heard and understood." Throughout the essay, Munroe serves uup a bevy of life gems: "We do not all of a sudden become a whole different person upon the realization of our transness or the moment we start presenting ourselves in a way that aligns with who we are on the inside.
