The #TonyAwards nominations are out, and #AStrangeLoop is leading the pack! The Pulitzer Prize-winning drama by Michael R. Jackson is nominated for 11 awards, including Best Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Book of a Musical. Honored in the 2020 #Logo30, Jackson spoke to us about his “big, Black, American, and queer-ass show,” and how he expresses his pride through his art. We are pleased to report that L Morgan Lee also made #Tonys history, becoming the first openly trans performer to be nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for 'A Strange Loop.' “My mind isn’t processing that this is real,” Lee told Playbill. “I can’t stop crying. To specifically be a trans actress in the company of these incredible women that I respect and have enjoyed for many years... This nomination is SO much bigger than me.” This is what we love to see! Catch an exclusive look at The Tony Awards on paramountplus on June 12 at 7 PM ET, followed by the three-hour awards ceremony airing live on cbstv and streaming simultaneously on Paramount+.
