Today’s activity: sending a 114-lb 11-month-old wolfhound flying down a FastCAT track 😂

For those of you who have been following us for a while, you know that Sully has been doing FastCAT for years. He’s now retired for obvious reasons, but I always thought it might be fun for Róisín to give it a try.

This weekend, Time To Fly and the savannah_kennel_club are hosting four days of CAT and FastCAT trials right here in town, so I signed Róisín up for some bunny hops to see if it piqued her interest.

For those unfamiliar with FastCAT, there are a few different types of runs dogs can participate in. The first is the regular run, where dogs aged 1+ who are registered with AKC (or through the PAL program) can earn points toward titles. The second is a fun run, which is exactly what it sounds like - dogs get to try the course and owners can see if it’s something they’d enjoy pursuing.

Róisín was entered in a bunny hop, which is designed for dogs under one year old. The only difference between this and a fun run is that the dogs run half the track - 50 yards instead of the full 100.

Róisín has tons of energy and absolutely LOVES to run, so I had a feeling this might be her sport. She was a little unsure on the first try, but by the second run she had it figured out - watch her tongue flapping and her tail spinning in circles! 😂

We can’t wait to try the full run once the trials come back in September for the SKC WagFest event!
