Alhamdulillah, last year we met the Ahmed family from Gaza here in New York City…a beautiful family of 12 in urgent need of support.

At the time, they were sleeping on mattresses in a cold, rodent-infested basement. Seven of their children are under the age of 6, and one family member was 9 months pregnant. After everything they had already survived - the bombing of their home, starvation, injuries, and the horror of mass graves near what was left of their neighborhood - no family should have had to endure those conditions 💔

By the mercy of Allah and through the generosity of this community, we were able to move them into their own apartment.

But their story does not end there.

Today, the Ahmed family is still living under immense instability and uncertainty. As refugee and immigration pathways grow more fragile, and as families like theirs face the fear of visas being revoked under Trump’s administration, they remain at serious risk of homelessness and displacement yet again.

After all they have survived, we want to take at least one fear off their minds and hearts.

At the Asiyah Women’s Center, we are raising funds to help sustain the Ahmed family and cover another year of rent so they can remain safely housed and stable. This is about more than rent. It is about giving a family room to breathe. It is about protecting seven young children from yet another trauma. It is about allowing this family to live with a measure of dignity, security, and peace.

They have already carried more than most of us can imagine. This Ramadan, let us lighten that burden.

Families from Gaza are praying beside us in taraweeh, shoulder to shoulder, foot to foot, while carrying unimaginable grief and uncertainty. We cannot let them return home to fear of eviction, hunger, and instability.

Please help us sustain this family. Help us keep a roof over their heads. Help us give them one less thing to fear.

Let’s make this Ramadan a source of real shelter, mercy, and relief for them.
