🏁 Dr. Erik Brandenburg is a German surgeon whose weekend passion is building and racing Porsche 911s that are modified into Safari-style rally beasts, lifted, reinforced, and geared for serious off-road competition instead of weekend cruises.

He’s famous for competing in long-distance gravel rallies like the Trans-Siberian Rally in his own hand-built 911 Safari, even taking the privateer entry near the front against factory teams.

His projects include beefed-up suspension, large off-road tires and other rally-ready upgrades that turn classic air-cooled 911s into rough-terrain monsters.

In Porsche’s own 9:11 Magazine: Pure video series, Brandenburg discusses how rallying and these cars give him personal “pure passion for rally driving” and reflect his wholehearted approach to life.

He’s built and collected several of these Safari 911s over decades of involvement in the scene, inspiring a niche but growing subculture of off-road 911 builders.

Complementing his cars, he also operates an iconic transporter, often a vintage heavy-duty truck styled like a rally support rig, to haul his Porsche builds to events and reinforce the rally aesthetic surrounding his collection.
